GCC is having a book discussion! I’m working my GCC is having a book discussion!

I’m working my way through this with a client in 1:1 sessions (her choice!) and thought it might be nice to do this in our community on Mighty Networks.

1. Join our community in MN using the link in my bio.

2. Look for a schedule of drop in lives where we’ll go through the book. I’ll be posting that later today.

3. No commitment or payment necessary. Come as you are!

Can’t wait to discover the magic of presence with you!
I’ve found myself with a rather unusual reaction I’ve found myself with a rather unusual reaction to the Johnny Depp vs. Amber Heard vs. Johnny Depp defamation trial: I find it easy to mistrust Amber and drawn to Johnny.

All strengths, on overdrive, become liabilities. He is engaging, direct, and seems to find the courtroom process entertaining. He’s also a bit mysterious (look at the parts he plays!), a little dark, and seemingly unpredictable.

On overdrive, these same traits, might be superficial, bullish, and dismissive.

I’ve also noticed that I get a little edgy when I see people in the media, particularly men, declare with certainty that Amber Heard is a “fraud,” a “psycho,” and/or “abusive.” As a woman, I find this to be scary, despite my own distaste for her. It reminds me how I can freely trash-talk family, but if you go there, it hits differently. It’s ok if I say it, but if a random guy on TikTok says it, I cringe.

Johnny is either courageously standing up for himself or he is financing a very powerful and effective campaign against a victim of DV.

And therefore, against all victims of DV.

The credentials on his legal team are enough to push all my buttons regarding inequities in the justice system. We know that justice is often not determined by a jury of your peers, but by your ability to pay the most savvy lawyers and PR team.

I want to focus on Johnny and Amber and the impact this public trial, before guilt or innocence is officially decided, has the potential to have on victims of domestic violence more globally. It’s terrifying, actually.

It has been too easy to blame Amber Heard and too easy to forgive Johnny Depp. And we know that neither is 100% responsibility-free.

Women need the justice system to work for them. I hope that this defamation trial doesn’t further marginalize those who need it most.
I’m reading this book alongside a client as a wa I’m reading this book alongside a client as a way of exploring the power of mindfulness, presence, and owning the parts of yourself you, like most people, disown.

This quote struck me and has been my experience.

When you engage with anyone else, without being present to yourself and what is happening within you, you aren’t the one engaging with that person.

It is your
🐛stories
🐛fears
🐛regrets
🐛trauma

engaging with their
🐛stories
🐛fears
🐛regrets
🐛trauma

YOU can interrupt this.

When you are present, meaning you’re aware and awake to all that is going on inside and outside of you - like a kind and compassionate observer - you are closer to living the truth of who you are. And in so doing, you experience reality without all those stories, fears, regrets, & trauma.

What meets you when you meet the world and all it brings head on?

Things like
🦋truth
🦋compassion
🦋joy
🦋peace
🦋courage
🦋equinimity

There is no forever for any of this, but as you practice presence, you will be able to access it easier and more regularly.

And when you do, you will be able to meet people as they are, in truth, and relate to them from that more beautiful place.

We’re talking about this in Mighty Networks. Join us. The link is in the bio.
